Wingfoil is the latest craze in water sports. And with good reason.
With a hand-held wing in your hands and a hydrofoil board on your feet, endless possibilities open up for sailing and surfing spots and waves that were previously unimaginable. We look forward to helping more people discover this versatile water sport!
PROGRAM
The course program is designed to be completed over 2 sessions of 3 hours, depending on level and prior knowledge.
Depending on the level and wind conditions, we typically conduct Lesson 1 Wingsurf during the first session, and Lesson 2 Wingfoil during the second session.
Lesson 1: WINGSURF
We will start on land and go through:
- Rigging
- Correct Grip
- Control of the Wing on land (without board)
- Body positioning on board
- Pop-up Technique
Then it’s time to get wet; we go into the water, find the right position, and try what we have learned on land. We start practicing on an inflatable SUP board with a fin keel, which is the safest and by far the easiest.
Lesson 2: WINGFOIL
In this session we use a dedicated Hydrofoil board together with the Wing to fly over the water with the wind.If conditions and level warrant it, we can carry out the session as a Downwinder, where we pick you and the equipment up by vehicle further down the beach, and drive back to the start, so that you get maximum time in the water.
LOCATION
Our Wingfoil Courses are held at SOLA, with attendance at Sola Brettseilerforening at SØMMEVÅGEN. Here you will try on a wetsuit, life jacket and helmet, and we collect the equipment for the day.
Then we go to the SPOT OF THE DAY, which can be either Sømmevågen in Hafrsfjord (South Winds), or Sola Beach close by (North Winds). We provide transport or you can drive your own car if you wish.
If you come by public transport, we can pick you up in Stavanger Center or at Stavanger Lufthavn Sola (SVG).

- Instead of taking the shortest route from the center to the beach, we choose a spot according to conditions. This means that we sometimes have to drive a bit to get to the spot that gives YOU the best conditions for learning. It also means that we can show you the very best Jæren has to offer.
- We use all aids and techniques to give you the fastest possible progression; Surfskate, SUP, and handpicked Wingfoil equipment suitable for beginners and advanced; as well as innovative aids such as our state-of-the-art electric winch and powerful Jetski with sled. We are the only ones in the country that offer courses with this.
- We take safety seriously, while at the same time we see the value of giving you challenges adapted to your personal abilities and level. All participants are given a helmet and life jacket, and receive personal follow-up along the entire beach.
WIND FORECAST
For beginners, optimal conditions range from 6m/s – 15m/s.
If you have experience from windsurfing, you can start from 5m/s.
We use the windforecast from Windguru. You can use the wind forecast here to see which days more than 5 m/s have been forecasted, those will be marked with stars ⭐️ in the table. Should it turn out to be no wind on the day you have chosen, we can move your activity to a later date.

FAQ WINGFOIL

If you can swim and are in normal physical shape, you can learn to wing.
Wingfoiling does not have to be an extreme sport, it is possible and wonderful to just sail. However, trying to learn on your own is difficult and can be dangerous.
Just a single Lesson will give you a big boost and knowledge to make the right decisions if you choose to continue with the sport.
Take a second lesson and you will be well on your way to becoming an independent wingfoiler.For participants under the age of 18, we require permission from a guardian.

The Course is held either at Sømmevågen in Hafrsfjord (South Winds)
or at Sola Beach (North Winds) which are within 5 minutes of each other.
These are both excellent beginner spots with calm seas and sand bottom.
At Sola we have the possibility for Downwind Lessons where we skip the walking and maximise our time in the water.If no other notice is given, attendance is at Sola Brettseilerforening in Sømmevågen in Sola Municipality.
When we have met and checked wind conditions, we may move to get optimal conditions.

If the wind conditions are not suitable, we are flexible to move the activity or give a full refund if the wind forecast the day before is too bad to be able to carry out the activity.
Having said that, we are quite good at finding wind, and have several spots to choose from that can be dramatically different from each other in different wind directions and weather conditions.
